Election Signal is an independent, nonpartisan California election-information project. You can use the public results experience without creating an account or providing an email address.
When you choose to sign up or contact us, we may collect your email address, the Election Signal offering you requested, referral information, the signup page, the consent language version and submission timestamps. Profile and sponsor inquiries may also include the name, office, community, or organization information you submit.
We use this information to deliver requested briefings and alerts; respond to inquiries; manage Signal+ interest; prevent abuse; and improve Election Signal.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use signup information for partisan targeting, candidate advocacy, campaign persuasion or political fundraising.
Your followed-race watchlist and preview preference may be stored locally in your browser so they survive a refresh. If you explicitly save email alerts, we also store the alert types and race identifiers you selected so we can deliver those requested updates. These preferences are not an Election Signal account; local preferences can be cleared through your browser and email alerts can be stopped through unsubscribe.
Information may be processed by infrastructure and communication providers that help us host the site, store submissions and deliver requested messages. We limit use to operating Election Signal.
You may unsubscribe directly on Election Signal or through any newsletter or alert message. You may also reply to an Election Signal message to request access, correction or deletion of the information connected to that address.
We retain signup and inquiry information while it remains useful for the service requested, legal compliance, security and recordkeeping. No system is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable safeguards and minimize the information collected. We may update this notice as the product changes and will revise the effective date above.
